In the thirty years of its existence Wrangler National Finals Rodeo has become one of the most prestigious in the world, and also one of the most expensive. The prize fund of the championship is more than 6 million dollars, but for riders on bulls who become the winners the sum is immediately reduced by almost half – because of the need to pay bills for treatment.
Each December, the top 15 cowboys take part in the Wrangler NFR. For ten days, they are invited to compete in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing and bull riding qualify. For example on wild bull it is necessary to hold at least 8 seconds.
During the days of competition, the Wrangler NFR transforms the look and feel of the “Entertainment Capital of the World.” Thousands of rodeo enthusiasts decked out in Wrangler jeans, heeled boots with patterns and cowboy hats fill hotels, restaurants, casinos, shopping malls and showrooms. In addition, hotel marquees are splashed with the names of the brightest stars in country music.
